You lack “common sense” – Sam George to gov’t officials over George Floyd memorial service.
Opposition lawmaker Sam George believes officials in government lack “common sense” after organising a memorial service in honour of murdered African-American George Floyd in Accra.
Ghana’s Tourism Ministry and other stakeholders on Friday, held an event in honour of Floyd whose death has sparked global protests.
In an Instagram post, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Ningo Prampram said the event was a waste of resources, especially when the government had failed to do same for Ghanaians who lost their lives under similar circumstances.
“The problem of this Country is common sense. Those occupying the Flagstaff House today and their assigns simply lack it. I mean how in God’s name do we even think of something like this?” George said.
He added: “Well, as a people we are not angry enough with the wanton idiocy on display. If we were, those who control public resources would take us more seriously and not insult our intelligence and sensitivities like this.
“May the souls of the Zongo 7, Ahmed Suale, Kintampo accident victims, 3 Takoradi girls, murdered Mankralo of Prampram and many more, who have lost their lives in equally tragic circumstances but did not even evoke a strain of sympathy from President Akufo-Addo and his cohort, continue to rest in peace.”
Musician turned politician, Kwame A Plus, has also condemned the government over the event.
“One day all of us will know who really cares about this country and it’s people. May God grant all of us long life!!!”
