A video showing scenes from the burial service of Dr. Kwame Nrumah has surfaced online and stimulated sad reactions from social media users. The video, which was shared by Ghana the Black Star of Africa, begins with a helicopter landing on a park. People from all walks of life are seen at the park amidst drumming and dancing and taking of photos.
Local music is being played in the background and a woman believed to be the late Nkrumah’s widow, Fathia Nkrumah, disembarks from the helicopter. A sheep is also seen being killed and soon after, a casket draped with the Ghana flag is also seen being carried by a group of people. The casket is then opened for viewing . Afterwards, a priest proceeds to perform the final funeral rites before the casket is lowered into the grave. After the release of the video, several people took to social media to express their sadness: Galleh argued that Nkrumah’s overthrow negatively affected Africa.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Consul General in the United States of America, Professor Samuel Amoako, has shed light on the attack of a man in the Bronx area in New York. This follows rumours to the effect that the man who was stabbed with a knife is a Ghanaian. Professor Amoako also refuted allegations that the man who was attacked has lost his life.
