DETAILS: Akuapem Poloo faces up to 5 years in jail for child pornography.
Socialite and actress Rosemond Brown known in social media circles as Akuapem Poloo may go to jail for at least 5 years for going naked in front of her seven-year-old son to celebrate his birthday.
According to the Criminal Offences (Amendment) Act, 2012 Act 849 of the Republic of Ghana, the actions of the actress amounts to child pornography and it is classified under racketeering.
Details of Racketeering offences are as follows:
(1) A person shall not engage in racketeering.
(2) A person who engages in racketeering commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a maximum penalty of life imprisonment and a minimum penalty of not less than five years imprisonment.
(3) For the purposes of subsection (1), racketeering is the operation by a structured group of an unlawful activity that involves fraud, deceit, extortion, intimidation, violence or any other unlawful method in the execution of the activity.
(4) Unlawful activities associated with racketeering include bribery, prostitution, the sexual exploitation of children, gambling, narcotic drug offences, money laundering and human trafficking.”
Poloo has since been criticized by a majority of Ghanaians for roping her innocent son into her stupidity and have labelled her as “uncultured”.
Earlier, it has been alleged that Akuapem Poloo has been invited by the CID for questioning and she has since pulled down the photo from social media.
