Asamoah Gyan Will Retire From The Black Stars After 2019 AFCON

A Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Kayserispor and captains the Ghanaian national team.

He’s come under a lot of criticisms for his inability to lead his team to the World Cup as a captain.

Many soccer critics have sent him to the cleaners with many calling for his retirement and this even led him to retort back by saying, only God can retire him from the Black Stars, something many Ghanaians did not take kindly to.

Finally, coach JE Sarpong who nurtured Asamoah Gyan to become who he is today announced that the Black Star’s Captain could retire from the National Team after the 2019 AFCON Cup.

In an interview with Atinka FM, Veteran Coach, JE Sarpong stated that,
I personally have told Gyan to retire from the Black Stars team, he has done a lot for the Nation and everyone knows that.

I spoke to him several times and he told me he wants to take the team to the Cup of Nations and call it a quit.

But I think is time for his to make a bow because he has paid his dues.
Asamoah Gyan holds the record as the most capped Black Stars player and the all-time top scorer for the National team with 51 goals.

Ghanaian player mysteriously dies in a pool

We can confirm that Niger-Based Ghanaian midfielder Salifu Okocha is reported to have passed after diving into a pool after a league game.

Salifu Yassana Okocha who plays for Nigerien side SA Fan is believed to have crashed his head on the concrete floor of the swimming pool after diving in it.

Reports are that Salifu Okocha died instantly after diving into a pool while he was with his team mates in Niger.

According to a friend of Okocha Hackman Abraham who confirmed the story, Okocha died instantly after diving in the pool.

Okocha was a member of the Nania FC side that won the MTN FA Cup in 2011 by beating Asante Kotoko in the final.

He also played for Wa All Stars and Tamale Utrecht Academy .

He hails from Sandema, in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
