African traditions are indisputably some of the most interesting customs around the world. And with many African tribes refusing to relinquish their cultures for modernity, here are some of Africa’s most bizarre traditions.

Also referred to as lip plugs, this tradition is very common among members of the Surma tribe of Ethiopia and South Sudan, especially those who live along the Omo River. The practice involves incising a hole in the lower lip and fitting a rounded plate inside of it. The plate is intended to stretch the lip out and is replaced with a bigger one as the lip enlarges.

Mahama donates GHC 10,000 cedis to Super OD’s family

Former President, John Dramani Mahama has donated a sum of GH? 10,000 Cedis to the family of the late Asonaba Kweku Darko, popularly known as “Super OD”.

The announcement was made by the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs at the final funeral rites which are being held at Swedru-Abodom in the Central Region.

The former president who is at the funeral of the renowned comedian has received a rapturous welcome from NDC and non-NDC faithful at the funeral.

The former president was accompanied by Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Allotey Jacobs, former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, Deputy General Secretary, Kofi Adams and Appiah Stadium, among others.
